Lesson Text

Excerpts From ‘Decolonising ‘decolonisation’ with Mphahlele’ by  Tshepo Madlingozi via New Frame Magazine⁣ ⁣ ____________⁣ ⁣ Been thinking a lot about the difference between decolonisation and repainting/assimilation - how institutional critique is so easily consumed by the institution and co-signed into submission, especially considering how hard colonial institutions make it to imagine a world beyond them. The referenced additional texts are in the ‘Critical Museum Studies’ channel asides from Crick Crack Monkey and Nervous Conditions (looking for the pdfs). A friend recently mentioned that they wish more fiction was cited as resources and it’s got me thinking more about novels and poetry to include in syllabi.
